Dromoland Castle~
Prepare to be welcomed like family, indulged like royalty, and spoiled in ways you never even imagined.
Set amid 500 acres of unspoiled parkland and ancient woodlands, steeped in over a thousand years of storied history, the 16th-century Dromoland Castle is a world unto itself—where timeless tradition meets effortless five-star luxury.
Yet the Castle’s greatest magic isn’t found in its turrets or tapestries—it lives in something far more down-to-earth. It’s woven into the landscapes of County Clare, carried in its legends, and brought to life through the people who call this place home.
You’ll discover it in the characters who fill the Castle: in their stories, their songs, their easy humor, and their generous spirit. It’s in the laughter that dissolves formality, in the wit that lingers long after the evening ends, and above all, in the unmistakable warmth of the welcome.

Dining~
Earl of Thomond: This restaurant is as grand as can be, with those soaring ceilings and astonishing crystal chandeliers. This is a place where silver cloches and old-world service will always have a home. With the assistance of a talented and focused brigade, Executive Head Chef David McCann conjures a culinary folktale for his guests. Familiar, comforting dishes, grounded in classical techniques, are transformed with deft, imaginative flourishes into memorable experiences—his menus, which evolve with the seasons, illuminate flavors from the untamed landscapes of the Burren.
Open Monday to Saturday for breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner | Reservations available
The Fig Tree Restaurant: An elegant, unfussy and welcoming space in all weathers. On a damp day, settle into cosy fireside chairs with friends and swap stories over perfect pints or a measure of rare whiskey. If it’s a sunny evening, head for the patio to enjoy drinks or dinner outside, served within the gentle atmosphere of Dromoland’s historic walled gardens. Choose from bar snacks and sandwiches, soups, salads, or steaks, gourmet pizzas, and elevated “pub grub” favourites such as burgers, fish, and chips. Equally popular with resort guests, golf club members, and chatty locals, it’s a great spot for a mellow meal followed by some friendly conversation.
Open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner | Reservations available
Cocktail Bar: Intimate, intricate, inviting, The Cocktail Bar at Dromoland was once the O’Brien family’s wonderful library. A fantastical octagonal room with cosy window seats overlooking the Castle lawns, you can enjoy a casual meal or snack from The Gallery menu, or simply sit back with a drink while soaking up the regal views. An extensive cocktail list is available alongside beers on tap and a superb selection of wine, Irish whiskey, and gin.
Mrs. White's Afternoon Tea: Enjoy a selection of finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and homemade jams, delicate pastries, and our signature tea brack, all served with fine loose-leaf teas in sparkling silver teapots. Settle into a cosy nook by the fire and savour a Festive Afternoon Tea, or elevate the occasion with a Champagne Afternoon Tea featuring a glass of Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve or Champagne Rosé
Open 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm | Reservations are highly recommended
Picnics: What finer way to enjoy Dromoland Castle’s magnificent estate than a private lunch outdoors? Features an assembly of a bespoke gourmet hamper that meets your requirements, whether that’s filling fare after a morning’s walking in the spectacular Clare countryside or a more decadent offering, with a bottle of Champagne or your favourite wine tucked in for good measure!
Golf~
Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club: Winding across the massive Dromoland Castle estate, our magnificent championship course plays over 6,824 yards for men and 5,242 for ladies. It’s a game of many moods: stern one moment and mischievously playful the next, offering exhilarating challenges to golfers of every level.
Gently rolling hills, ancient trees, and deceptively winsome wildflower meadows conspire to conceal unexpected hazards, then open up in a blaze of glory to reveal breathtaking vistas of the Castle towers and County Clare’s untamed landscapes in the distance. You’re walking with history here, in the footsteps of legends, and that unshakable sense of significance adds something very special to the golf experience.
This is a deeply loved golf course, showered with attention from our talented, passionate (some might say obsessive) greenskeepers, and lavished with constant investment and improvements to keep her dancing on a pinpoint of immaculate conditioning and playability in all seasons. That care is something you can see from the instant you arrive, but more importantly, you can feel it in every aspect of your game.
The Clubhouse: Friendly five-star clubhouse at Dromoland Castle Golf Club shares the same spirit of lighthearted luxury that defines the rest of the resort. You’ll find the finest of everything, accompanied by a down-to-earth attitude that makes it easy to relax and unwind, with a wide range of facilities and services on offer, including The Fig Tree Bar and Restaurant, locker rooms, and a full leisure centre including pool, gym, sauna, and steam room.
The Golf Shop: With sweeping views of the 1st, 10th, and famous 18th holes, as well as the breathtaking Dromoland Lake, The Golf Shop is a love letter to the game and a wonderland for golf enthusiasts. Browse the latest golf apparel and merchandise, including a Dromoland Castle-branded range from internationally renowned brands such as KJUS, Galvin Green, Fairway & Greene, Daily Sports Sweden, Peter Millar, Oscar Jacobson, and Duca del Cosma leather footwear.

The star of the show is our 17 metre pool, which is bathed in natural light from its floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the scenic golf course. After a few laps, or a satisfying workout in our fully equipped gym, treat yourself to a bit of thermal therapy with a session in the sauna and steam room, followed by a relaxing soak in the jacuzzi.
